It was a few days to Christmas Eve of long-ago 1939. Enzo Ferrari had just left Alfa-Romeo, who had con-strained him not to undertake racing-activities for at least four years. But it didn't quite go like that. Ferrari immediately began to pre-pare what he himself was to call his 'anteprima', - roughly translating to 'preview'. At Modena, in viale Trento e Trieste, in the same premises as his former 'Scuderia', with two valued technicians and a small group of men, he planned and produced a brilliant racing-car in a couple of months.
