This is volume one of a two part work which will take the first world view of 1/43rd scale Ferraris in all materials (white metal, plastic, diecast, etc) including those available in kits and as finished models. Over 520 miniature Ferraris are illustrated in full colour from 130 firms ranging from famous makers such as Brumm, Corgi, Dinky and Solido to small production units such as John Day, Tim Wizard and Precision Miniatures. The authors cover all miniature production from 1947 through to 1991 tracing the development of the full size cars they depicted. In all, miniatures reflecting over 154 different full size Ferraris are illustrated. This volume covers all Sport, Prototype, 250 GT and GTO models. A further volume will deal with non competition Road Cars. The book includes an index of Ferrari Sports Car racing records for the period. Each miniature is appraised in terms of quality, method of kit assembly (where relevant) and a brief history of every manufacturer is given together with illustrations of trade marks where these were used. The models appear in the order in which the real car was introduced thus widening the scope of the book to take in both the real and miniature history of the world's most charismatic marque. Another unique contribution to the appreciation and enjoyment of model collecting by New Cavendish Books - the world's leading publisher in this field.
